The Escapes
Trip planning and booking from the editor of Outlux.
Outlux Escapes plans and books trips for a small number of clients each year. The judgment comes from the same place as the Collection: hotels we have paid to stay in and would book again, restaurants we have eaten in, and cities we know at street level. The difference is that here we do the booking too — and through our agency affiliation, that usually means an upgrade, breakfast, a resort credit, and late checkout at the properties worth staying in.
How it works
1. Book a planning session — $500
One hour on a video call. Tell us where you’re thinking of going, when, your budget per night, and a hotel you loved and one you didn’t. You leave with a clear view of the trip and the properties in contention. The $500 is credited in full against any plan you commission within 90 days.
2. Commission the plan
Fixed fees, paid upfront, invoiced directly. We take a limited number of commissions each month.
3. We book it
We place the reservations, secure the amenities, and hand you a day-by-day itinerary. You pay each hotel directly at its own rate, on its own terms. We send you the confirmations; from check-in onward you deal with the hotel directly, as you would anywhere.
Fees
The Weekend — $1,500
One city, two to three nights. Hotel and room booked; three restaurants; the timing and the neighbourhood. Written brief within seven days.
The Escape — $3,500
Five to ten nights, up to three properties. Full day-by-day itinerary, reservations made, one round of revisions. Within fourteen days.
The Year — $12,000
Up to four trips a year plus direct access in between. Invoiced quarterly. Six clients at a time.
Fees are in US dollars, exclude taxes, and are in addition to what you pay hotels and other suppliers.
How we’re paid, plainly
You pay us a planning fee. When we book a hotel for you, the hotel usually pays us a standard industry commission as well. That rate is broadly the same everywhere, so it doesn’t make one property more attractive to us than another, and it never raises the price you pay — you book at the hotel’s own rate. The Collection is a separate matter: every stay behind it is booked anonymously and paid in full, no hotel is told in advance, and none can buy its way in. We say this here because we’d rather you read it from us.

Planning sessions are refundable if cancelled at least two business days in advance. Planning fees are non-refundable once work has begun. Hotel and supplier bookings are subject to each supplier’s own terms. Full terms are provided with every engagement.
